My name is Josie and I’m a potter living in Kent. I create functional, contemporary ceramics in my home studio along with my trusty studio dog Alice. The majority of my work is thrown on a potters wheel and is intended to be used and enjoyed regularly. I work mainly with stoneware and hope to create pieces that are as beautiful to use as they are to look at.

My mother is Danish and father is Greek and there is definitely a strong influence from both in my life. This strange mix of cultures in our close knit family really shaped my personality and I have an inner battle between the cool, calm, collected side and the passionate, dramatic and spontaneous side. It’s both the conflict and harmony of these two cultures that really makes me, me and that is something I like to reflect in the pieces that I make. I love the simple elegance of Scandinavian design but the wild, organic nature of traditional Mediterranean pottery. I hope to create pieces that are minimal, simple and considered mixed with organic, free and expressive. What I love about this craft is how nothing is ever perfect, everything is unique and one of a kind and there is always more to learn and explore.
